cute overload
Do you ever find yourself regressing into the elementary school and jr high days of obsessive collecting of ridiculously cute things? It started with sanrio, then you discovered morning glory, and when you actually visited taiwan/japan/korea/east asian country of your choice, it feels like you've died and gone to cute heaven? So then you would stockpile a ridiculous amount of stationary, writing utensils, erasers, stamps, stickers, etc., none of which you would actually use but just keep in a drawer and look at admiringly? Does anyone relate, or am I the only crazy one here? (I'm just now getting around to using all of these stockpiled things.)
My mom would often ask me when I would grow out of it, but what did she expect when I grew up watching characters such as these?

and these?

I was virtually raised by Miyazaki videos (audio in Japanese with Chinese subtitles... how did I ever understand what was really going on?) and really, how can Disney possibly compare when the oddly shaped and mystical animals in Japanese animation films are just SO much cuter???
Anyways... before I go off on a tangent, my point was that I'm still there, that preteen who's obsessed with everything and anything that cute. Except now I don't have to ask Mommy to buy these things for me!
Yesterday, at a networking event, my friend Connie gasped in surprise that I had brought a real purse, as opposed to the tofu robot tote bag I had been carrying around everywhere. Seriously though, who doesn't love a good tofu robot?

Today, as I was going through Google Reader, one of the blogs I read about super amazingly cute things had a post about this button store. I then proceeded to buy 12 buttons, for which I really don't have any NEED, but just really wanted to HAVE (back to the days of preteen stockpiling of cute things). They were a dollar each, and shipping was a dollar for 6 buttons... but if you bought 12 the shipping bumped up to 3 dollars, so I circumvented the system and just put in two orders of 6 buttons, spending only 2 dollars on shipping! Yay for my 1 dollar victory! (Yes, I am that happy about saving 1 dollar on shipping frivolous things that I don't need.)
How happy would you be if you received one of these suckers? Yeah, it's just a button but it's SO CUTE! (Olie and Ivan... if you're reading this, try to guess which button is yours! Now you can't say I've never bought you anything, Ivan!)
By the way, Supercutekawaii's having a free giveaway... and if I blog about it I get an extra point! (Whatever that means?) So if you've also regressed into preteen-hood, go enter!
